DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and her Executive Cabinet held the Third Quarter Town Hall for 2025 on October 29 at the Woodruff Health Science Center Administration Building. The event, which was accessible both in person and online, provided updates on priorities under the “DeKalb Reimagined” vision.
CEO Cochran-Johnson outlined progress from her first eight months in office, with a focus on infrastructure, economic development, housing, public safety, and technology. Executive Cabinet members also presented detailed information about departmental initiatives and plans for the remainder of the year.
“Transparency and accountability are the foundation of good government,” said CEO Cochran-Johnson. “I’m grateful to every resident who took the time to engage with us. Your feedback shapes how we move DeKalb forward.”
The town hall included questions submitted by residents before the event and highlighted cooperation among departments to achieve results for DeKalb’s population of 765,000.
Recent data show that enrollment at DeKalb County schools dropped by 2.2% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). In total, county schools enrolled 98,287 students during that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students represented 14% of this student body, making them the third largest ethnic group in DeKalb County schools (https://www.gadoe.org/).
