DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections schedules October public meeting

The DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in person at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, Decatur, Georgia, and is open to the public.

Members of the public can make comments either in person or by submitting an email. Emails must be one printed page or less with a minimum font size of 12 and should be sent to electionspubliccmnt@dekalbcountyga.gov. These emails must be received between 35 and 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the meeting. The body of the email must include the sender’s first and last name.

By submitting an email for public comment, participants agree that their name and email may be broadcast on UStream and entered into the official record and minutes. According to the board: “The DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections reserves the right, at the DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections’ sole discretion, to (1) add your email to the record/minutes without reading any of it into the broadcast or (2) read all or a portion of your email into the record/minutes.”

Public comments are limited to two minutes. The board states that “Abusive, profane, or derogatory language, holding up signs, clapping, yelling, standing, or laying in the aisles to show support for or opposition to a speaker will not be permitted,” but adds that “a show of hands or quietly standing in place will be permitted to show support for or opposition to a speaker’s position.”

DeKalb County schools enrolled a total of 98,287 students during the 2022-23 school year according to data from state education authorities (https://www.gadoe.org/). During this period enrollment dropped by 2.2% compared with the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up 14% of DeKalb County’s student population in that same school year (https://www.gadoe.org/).
