DeKalb County Board of Ethics schedules September public meeting

The DeKalb County Board of Ethics is scheduled to hold its regular public meeting on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The session will take place at 178 Sams Street, Room A1201 – A & B, Decatur, Georgia.

According to the agenda released by the board, the meeting will begin with a call to order and adoption of the agenda. Administrative items include approval of minutes from the July 17, 2025 meeting, updates from committees, an update from general counsel regarding advisory opinions, and a monthly report from the ethics officer.

The board will also review preliminary cases including Tonya Newberry v. School Resource Officer (Case No. 2025-6), Asya Perrymond v. Vanessa Collins (Case No. 2025-7), and Dianne Charlie Moore v. Johnny Mitchell (Case No. 2025-8).

Following these items, there will be an opportunity for public comments as well as remarks from members of the Board of Ethics.

An executive session is planned to discuss pending litigation and personnel issues. The agenda lists motions to convene and adjourn this session as well as a motion to approve the executive session affidavit.

The next regular meeting is set for Thursday, October 16, 2025.

Enrollment in DeKalb County schools decreased by 2.2% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). In that same period, DeKalb County schools enrolled a total of 98,287 students (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students represented the third largest ethnic group in DeKalb County schools during that time frame, accounting for approximately 14% of total enrollment (https://www.gadoe.org/).
