DeKalb County Board of Ethics schedules February public meeting

The DeKalb County Board of Ethics is scheduled to hold its regular public meeting on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at 178 Sams Street, Room A1201 – A & B, in Decatur, Georgia.

The agenda includes the adoption of the meeting agenda and approval of minutes from the previous session held on January 15, 2026. There will also be an introduction of a new board member and reports from committees as well as the ethics officer’s annual and monthly report.

Several preliminary cases are set for discussion. These include Malcolm Peeples v. Noah Hightower (Case No. 2025-12), Toni Covington Graham v. Emily Brian (Case No. 2026-1), Quinton Wright v. Rekejean Galbreath and Lascelles Powell (Case No. 2026-2), Carleshia Powell v. James Holloway (Case No. 2026-3), and Robyn Morgan v. James Holloway (Case No. 2026-4).

The meeting will allow time for public comments and remarks from members of the Board of Ethics.

An executive session is planned to discuss pending litigation and personnel issues, with motions scheduled for convening and adjourning this session as well as approving the executive session affidavit.

The next regular board meeting is announced for March 19, 2026.

In related news about DeKalb County schools, enrollment declined by 2.2% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). The total student enrollment stood at 98,287 for that period (https://www.gadoe.org/). Black students made up the largest portion of the student body at 55.7%, followed by Hispanic students at 20.1%. White students represented approximately 14% while multiracial students were the least represented group at just over three percent (https://www.gadoe.org/).
