The Center for Truth and Healing (CFTH), a member of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, hosted the Seniors in Motion DeKalb County Senior Prom on September 6, 2025, at a venue in Stone Mountain. The event brought together seniors from across DeKalb County along with local leaders and community partners.

Guests experienced a red-carpet welcome before enjoying an afternoon that included live entertainment by recording artist Reggie Boone, hosting by Brinca the Equalyzer, and music provided by DJ Will. The event also featured a gourmet meal sponsored by an Atlanta-based company recognized for its support of community organizations and minority-owned businesses.

During the prom, CFTH presented Special Community Champion Awards to several local leaders for their contributions to the metro Atlanta community. Honorees included Reggie Johnson from the DeKalb Community Resource Network, Brinca the Equalyzer, Rising Star Aaleyah Flavien, among others. A gubernatorial candidate for Georgia Governor also attended to show support for local seniors.

“This event was more than a prom—it was a celebration of our seniors, their legacy, and their continued impact on our community,” said Queen Shanta Lana Hereford, Founder of the Center for Truth and Healing. “The energy, joy, and unity in the room was truly inspiring.”

The CFTH highlighted its ongoing commitment to supporting seniors through engagement and recognition events such as this prom. The organization is planning its next event—A Taste of East Memorial Drive—on September 27, 2025. This outdoor gathering at Memorial Square in Stone Mountain will feature music, entertainment, food vendors, and activities aimed at celebrating local culture.

“A Taste of East Memorial Drive is about bringing the community together, showcasing local talent, and highlighting the vibrant culture that makes this neighborhood so special,” said Terry Brantley Jr., whose family operates The Atrium Performing Arts Center where the event will be held. “We want everyone—families, friends, and neighbors—to come out, enjoy the festivities, and experience the best of our community.”

Sponsors for these events include The Atrium Performing Arts Center, DeKalb Chambers of Commerce, General Tso’s Restaurant and Catering, The Hype Magazine, Maverick Global Distribution, Atlanta Black Chambers, Seed Life Foundation, Building Unity Community, South Candler Neighborhood Association, DeKalb Community Resource Network, Kay’s Vision Association, The Nation of Cherut and others.
