Congressman Hank Johnson announced on Apr. 15 that he received a perfect score of 100 percent from the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) on its 2025 National Environmental Scorecard, which evaluates every member of Congress each year based on key environmental votes.
The announcement highlights Johnson’s ongoing commitment to environmental issues, with his lifetime LCV score reaching 97 percent—one of the highest among Georgia’s congressional delegation. The annual LCV scorecard is considered a national standard for measuring lawmakers’ records on environmental, public health, and energy policies.
Johnson, who serves as a member of the Safe Climate Caucus, has frequently been recognized for his advocacy regarding the National Park System and efforts to expand clean energy initiatives. “As the Trump administration pursues its disastrous ‘drill-baby-drill’ policies, the American people and the planet suffer,” said Rep. Johnson. “We see what over-reliance on fossil fuels and a myopic energy policy looks like, and it’s not good. Voting to protect our natural resources and the planet from existential climate change isn’t difficult, it’s just common sense. I urge my Republican colleagues to get the heads out of Trump’s ass, find a backbone and a little common sense themselves before it’s too late.”
According to Johnson’s office, while he scored perfectly this year, the average House score was only 48 percent.
The League of Conservation Voters has published its National Environmental Scorecard for more than five decades as an accepted tool for rating members of Congress in areas related to environmental protection and energy policy.
