For several weeks, the story surrounding Jeffrey Epstein and its potential political implications has been a topic of discussion among Democrats. However, recent analysis suggests that public interest in the matter is declining.
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten commented on the situation during an appearance on CNN News Central. “I would say that this is, from at least a political point of view, quickly turning into a dud of a story,” Enten said. Anchor Kate Bolduan responded by noting how surprising it was that attention to the issue had decreased so rapidly.
Enten provided data showing that online searches related to Epstein have dropped significantly. “Take a look here. Google searches for Epstein down 89 percent versus just three weeks ago. Falling through the floor,” he stated. He also observed that Epstein is no longer among the top terms searched alongside Donald Trump’s name, with topics like tariffs and Vladimir Putin now receiving more attention due to upcoming events.
“But at this particular point, the American people‘s interest in this story – it‘s quickly becoming something of a nothingburger!” Enten added.
Vice President JD Vance recently brought renewed focus to calls for releasing documents known as the “Epstein Files” during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. His remarks were aimed at Democrats who have shown increased interest in the case.
According to Enten’s analysis shared on social media, Trump’s approval rating remains steady and higher than it was at this stage in his first term as president. Additionally, less than one percent of respondents consider the Epstein case to be the nation’s top issue.
