Former President Bill Clinton, age 79, was seen with a large bandage on his nose while attending the New York City Marathon. He and his wife, Hillary Clinton, were present at the event to support their daughter Chelsea Clinton as she finished the race. Photographs from the scene showed Bill Clinton embracing Chelsea at the finish line.
The reason for the bandage on Clinton’s nose has not been disclosed. The appearance marked a rare public outing for the former president.
Clinton has faced several health challenges in recent years. Earlier this year, both Bill and Hillary Clinton appeared at a book signing event in New York for their joint publication “The First Gentleman.” Observers noted that Bill Clinton appeared frail during his arrival at the event, needing to steady himself by holding onto a pole before entering.
Last year, he campaigned for Kamala Harris and was seen with a noticeable hand tremor. He has previously explained that his hand tremor is due to aging rather than Parkinson’s disease.
In October 2021, Bill Clinton was hospitalized with sepsis and spent six days at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange County, California. He has also undergone major surgeries in past years, including a quadruple bypass and an operation for a partially collapsed lung.
