Biffle Park to celebrate new playground with ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 25

DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs and Park Pride will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new playground at Biffle Park on Saturday, Oct. 25. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m. at 5221 Biffle Rd., Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The playground project received $325,798 in funding. The funds came from Park Pride’s Grantmaking Program, the DeKalb County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), and the Parks Department.

DeKalb County schools enrolled 98,287 students in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). Enrollment dropped by 2.2% compared to the previous year (https://www.gadoe.org/). White students made up 14% of the county’s student body during that period, ranking as the third most represented ethnic group (https://www.gadoe.org/).
