Arrest made in officer-involved shooting

The Dunwoody Police Department has arrested 23-year-old Khalil Thomas in reference to yesterday’s incident.  His charges are as follows: 

  • Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer – 4 counts
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana – 1 count
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – 1 count

Dunwoody, GA – December 8, 2022 – The Dunwoody Police Department is currently investigating an officer involved shooting, which occurred at 124 Perimeter Center West on 12/08/22 at 2:46 pm.

Officers responded to the above location in reference to a trouble unknown call.  Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect in question.  During that encounter, the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at one of our officers.  The two officers on scene fired shots at the suspect and missed him.  Moments later, the offender was taken into custody without further incident.  The officers and the suspect were not injured.  The scene is clear at this time but the case remains active. 

The Dunwoody Police Department has asked Sandy Springs Police Department to conduct an outside agency review of this incident.
