For the 2024-25 school year, Huntley Hills Elementary School reported enrolling four American Indian or Alaska Native students, matching enrollment from the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Total student enrollment at Huntley Hills Elementary School reached 473 for 2024-25. American Indian or Alaska Native students made up 1% of those enrolled, the smallest demographic at the school.

Huntley Hills Elementary is part of the DeKalb County School District, which has its central office in Decatur.

Out of 129 schools in the DeKalb County School District, Chamblee Charter High School recorded the largest enrollment of American Indian or Alaska Native students for 2024-25, totaling 18 students.

Georgia public schools enrolled more than 1.7 million students overall, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary grades saw the highest participation with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by middle school at 388,733 (22.7%), and high school with 539,092 (31.4%).

Chronic absenteeism continues to be a challenge in Georgia’s schools following the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, the Georgia Department of Education reported. In response, the GaDOE launched a statewide initiative adding a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness efforts, and direct support for high-need districts aimed at improving student attendance rates.

In 2025, Georgia legislators approved a bill that changes attendance policies to prohibit expulsion on the basis of absenteeism alone. The measure also institutes new reporting standards and is aligned with programs helping students receive diplomas through alternative routes.

As of 2026, Georgia had an estimated average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, which is more favorable than the national ratio of 15:1.
