On Monday, Alyssa Farah Griffin, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” acknowledged former President Donald Trump and his administration’s involvement in the recent release of Israeli hostages. Griffin had previously pledged in January to wear a MAGA hat on air if Trump succeeded in freeing the hostages.

During the broadcast, Griffin called the deal “a massive diplomatic achievement,” adding, “The whole world can breathe a sigh of relief.” She also reflected on the impact of the October 7, 2023 attacks by Hamas, which resulted in more than 1,100 deaths and 250 kidnappings. “Whether you like Trump or not, I think he, I think [Special Envoy] Steve Witkoff, and I think Jared Kushner do deserve credit for this deal,” Griffin said. She highlighted their direct negotiations with Hamas.

Earlier in the episode, co-host Whoopi Goldberg played footage showing celebrations following news of peace in the region. Goldberg commented, “we can all pray that it stays that way.”

In January, Griffin stated on air: “If he gets the Israeli hostages out, I promise i will wear a MAGA hat for one day on the show, and say, ‘Thank you for doing it.’”

On social media after Monday’s broadcast, Griffin reiterated her praise: “My reflections on the peace deal between Israel & Hamas. The President & his team deserve tremendous credit for this historic diplomatic achievement, the return of the hostages, & end to bloodshed. Pray this peace holds.”

Some viewers and commentators have since called on Griffin to fulfill her earlier pledge by wearing a MAGA hat during an episode.
